The pig under the hood of this T-type is the Buick 3800 V6, a 3.8 liter fuel injected odd-firing engine that is based on the infamous Buick 215 V8. In fact, it is considered rough for a V6 because it uses the V8 firing pattern but with two cylinders lopped off - not ideal, but it gets the job done.

William Stopford - Posted on August 1, 2018 When I found this LeSabre T-Type on Craigslist, I thought two things. Firstly, this was a surprisingly attractive design for an American GM product from the 1980s. Secondly, didn't our Jim Klein own one of these?

Curbside Classic: 1988 Buick LeSabre and LeSabre T-Type - The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde By J P Cavanaugh - Posted on February 15, 2019 The Buick LeSabre. Everyone knows what it is. In 1983, Buick went "big" with the T-Type sub-brand, offering it across a broad array of product lines, including the Skyhawk, Skylark, Century, Regal and Riviera—and in subsequent years the Somerset and Electra as well (plus the LeSabre again). Unclear, however, was what exactly the "T" in "T-Type" represented.

But there it was, a 1988 Buick LeSabre T-Type, in Ruby Red Metallic-and with only about 32,000 miles on the odometer, it still looked, felt, and smelled brand-new. I'm not quite sure what drew me to it.

My brother and I routinely comment on how desirable we find cars like this 1988 Buick LeSabre T-Type, which was part of a performance-oriented lineup that Buick marketed in the 1980s. There were multiple models across the various GM brands that got similar treatments, like the Bonneville SSEI or the Cutlas 442.
