What Are Wheel Torque Specs?
This is different than the specs offered on the GLI manual where it states the torque value is to be 88 ft.lbs for both steel and alloys. The question I have is why did VW change the value? There is really not much difference in the cars as there might be between a SUV and mid-size car.

I only have the haynes vw bug manual and i dont think it has all the torque spec's i need: -rear brake backing plate bolts (also hold bearing cap etc) -tie rod nylon locking nuts (how do you hold the shaft still while putting nut on???)

They seem to give up the ghost, at around 3/8ths of an inch down where the allen hole meets the rest of the studs shank I've tried 80, 70, and seemed to have settled with 60 ft pounds. It doesn't seem like alot but those damn aluminum crush washers become toast in no time at all.
